Cake Pops!

I love cupcakes and you will soon learn more about my obsession with them as I go but recently I have really been curious about cake pops. I mean everybody knows about cupcakes and loves them but cake pops, though they are catching up, remain a novelty that not many have seen much less made. I could only be curios so long before I wanted to get my hands dirty and very much involved in making my very own batch. Turns out these are a "piece of cake". They are cute, easy, and individually sized as well as portion controlled what's not to love?

*Here from me to you easy steps to "pop" your cake pop baking cherry*

You will need a boxed cake mix of your choice.
A can of frosting of your choice. ( You will use on cup)
Instant pudding box of your choice.
4 eggs
3/4 cup of oil.
1 cup water.
Cake pop sticks. (Craft isle)
Candy Melts (baking or craft isle)
styrofoam block.

Begin by baking the cake according to the following directions:
Mix the cake mix, instant pudding, cup of water, oil, and eggs and beat together. Bake the cake mix as usual in a 350 degree oven until done.

Wait for the cake to cool, once cooled crumb up the cake in a bowl and mix in ONE CUP of frosting and mix well. When that mixture has created a thick dough like texture begin to roll up into balls and place on parchment paper over a cookie sheet. Refrigerate cake balls for up to two hours.
Melt chocolate melts by using the double broiler method or microwave whatever you are more comfortable with, though I would personally suggest the double broiler method. You can go buy the double broiler pans or you can swing it like I did. Pick two pans one bigger than the other, fill the larger pan 1/4 of the way with water and let boil, then place the smaller pan inside the boiling water til hot and pour your chocolate melts in the small pan and melt them to the desired consistency.
Take the pop sticks and dip in the melted chocolate then insert into cake ball, repeat until each cake ball has a stick.
Dip the cake pop into the melted chocolate. At this point you can sprinkle the sprinkles on it for decoration. (Do not roll the pop in a plate of sprinkles, my friend learned this the hard way. )
Place cake pop (stab into) in a styrofoam block and let dry.

Just like that CAKE POPS for everyone!!

Hope you guys enjoy my first real post and go out and try to make these yourself. Let me know your results and always feel free to ask questions :).

Welcome.

Well let me first say thank you for stopping by and taking a moment to take a look. This is my attempt at making a food blog. After some careful consideration I have decided to go for it. No I have not real "skills" and no fancy schmancy camera or supplies. I am a normal ordinary 24 yr old that likes to cook and bake and experiment in the kitchen. I live on a limited budget with a tiny kitchen in a small apartment with 3 dogs. I have been around the blog world and I have found some lovely food blogs and as much as I enjoy them I simply can not relate. Most food blogs are fancy with people that have been blogging for years that have a following, that have the money to have fancy supplies and spacious kitchens, fancy cameras that make their creations looks out of this world, and as much as all that serves for great inspiration I simple feel left out, unable to compete. I have decided to give others like me a voice. I hope that you will join in my journey to culinary adventure and delight being just an ordinary person. I want to prove that cooking can be for anyone, even if your skills and budget are limited, that you can enjoy and even blog about the things you make all while posting pictures that you take on your iphone, not a 500 dollar camera. I am here to prove something that life can be delicious no matter what.
